EGO 56V lawn products are a favorite pick for yard and gardening ENTHUSIASTS.
I’m not a gardener. Nor do I really enjoy yard work. I think thats why I refer to it as yard “work” and not a hobby. This is precisely why the EGO 56V self-propelled lawn mower is my CURRENT best favorite mower. Why? Reasons include:

EGO ARC Lithem 56V Batteries
The EGO 56V batteries are among the most sophisticated of power tool batteries available. They are also expensive relative to other brands. They are highly proprietary and only made by EGO, meaning that you won’t find any cheaper alternative third-party brands. As previously mentioned, EGO 56V batteries are universally compatible with all EGO tools which makes it easy to justify buying a set of these little power houses and keep them charged up and ready to go. So, what are the considerations when buying EGO 56V batteries? Here are some things to consider.
Application -vs- Run Time -vs- Weight
You may be inclined to want to buy the biggest battery you can afford as opposed to buying 2 smaller packs. And if your goal is simply to have the most run time (note that I say run time and now power, since power is 56V for all EGO batteries) available without swapping out packs, then the choice is simple. Get the EGO 56V 10Ah battery! Its a beast! Not currently available from Amazon, unfortunately but the 7.5Ah battery is! However, you have to consider what you’re going to use it for. There are situations where having multiple smaller packs is advantageous. Here are some scenarios where having multiple smaller packs is better than 1 large pack.
- Hot swapping – If you have a large yard and you know 1 large pack won’t be enough to finish, having one pack means you have to now wait for the 30 – 60 minutes to charge that pack before resuming your work. If you have multiple smaller packs, you could charge one pack while using the other. And, by the time one is depleted, the other is charged and ready to go! This, of course, depends on the ratio of use vs charge, but for most applications you will finish charging before you exhaust a pack. This is true unless you’re really pushing your tools hard (I know some of you do).
- Smaller packs are lighter. I know what you’re thinking. Its only a couple of ounces difference between the batteries. Yeah, true. But consider that you might be holding these tools for hours on end. And this is in addition to the weight of the tool. For some tools, the extra weight causes some imbalance to the tool, making the back considerably heavier than the front (e.g. the string and hedge trimmers). While you won’t notice it on your mower, you will notice it on handhelds. This is why EGO also sells a
so you can carry the battery weight on your back and not by your arms and shoulders.
- Concurrent tool use – having more batteries means you can have more tools running concurrently. Get your kids out there and blow out the leaves while you mow the grass. Can’t do that if you only have 1 battery pack.
- Start a collection – nothing looks better than seeing a wall full of green EGO tools and a bank full of EGO 56V batteries. A site for all cordless power tool enthusiasts!
